Since their formation in 2019, these funk-loving jazz lovers have drawn inspiration from the iconic Fela Kuti and jazz’s rich tradition of improvisation. Their signature sound weaves Afro-Fusion, neo-soul, and polyrhythmic grooves into a dance-inducing celebration of rhythm and soul.

In 2025, Dr. Henry Band opened for the legendary Richard Bona at the renowned Winnipeg Jazz Festival, a milestone that underscored their rising influence. They’ve also graced stages such as the West End Cultural Center (opening for Zrada), Manitoba Music at The Forks, CCFM Jazz Night, Gerryfest, and Festival du Voyageur to name a few.

Led by the visionary Henry Onwuchekwa, they are a collective of virtuosic musicians hailing from diverse musical backgrounds.
