Dr. Henry Band-a Afro Jazz Groove Collection is an electrifying 8-piece ensemble from Winnipeg, Canada, blending Francophone and Anglophone Nigerian heritage. Since their formation in 2019, these funk-loving jazz lovers have drawn inspiration from the iconic Fela Kuti and jazz’s rich tradition of improvisation. Their signature sound weaves Afro-Fusion, neo-soul, and polyrhythmic grooves into a dance-inducing celebration of rhythm and soul.

In 2025, Dr. Henry Band opened for the legendary Richard Bona at the renowned Winnipeg Jazz Festival, a milestone that underscored their rising influence. They’ve also graced stages such as the West End Cultural Center (opening for Zrada), Manitoba Music at The Forks, CCFM Jazz Night, Gerryfest, and Festival du Voyageur to name a few.

Led by the visionary Henry Onwuchekwa, they are a collective of virtuosic musicians hailing from diverse musical backgrounds. Together, they create a fusion of sounds that bridge the gaps between continents and connect people through the universal language of music. Drawing from their Nigerian heritage and their extensive training in jazz studies.
